Beyond the Therapy Box
I offer speech and language therapy advice, assessment and treatment for children and adults as well as advice and support for their families or carers.
I recognise that everyone is an individual and on a unique journey through life. For this reason as well as traditional speech and language therapy I am keen to offer a more creative therapy service embracing an individuals abilities, strengths and interests, through everyday activities, indoors or out. I aim to think "beyond" the traditional "therapy box" when possible. I am really enthusiastic about the opportunities that technology and gaming provide for communication for people of all ages. I also believe it is important to developing communication through a range of mediums e.g. play, art, music, movement, sports, social/fun activities and when interacting with nature and animals. I am prepared to think "far beyond" the traditional therapy box of ideas and believe that if an activity is positive for an individual then it is important to embrace this. I hope to explore this further through my blog posts which you can find here and also on social media. I also offer more traditional speech and language therapy intervention and training for nurseries, schools, and colleges. I can offer individual or group therapy for children of all ages which can be funded through the Early Years Pupil Premium, or Pupil Premium. I am able to offer training and assessment within the workplace to support adults living with early onset dementia. I can also offer individual assessment and therapy for people living with dementia at home. I have a particular interest in Primary Progressive Aphasia. If you are a nursing home or care home supporting people living with dementia or adults with learning disabilities then I can offer a bespoke service for individuals or groups. If you home educate your child again I am able to offer either more traditional speech and language therapy intervention or work with you through your unique learning environments. As a parent on her own "unschooling" journey I am keen to support families who aim to live within a non coercive environment. Please note I do not offer a DYSPHAGIA service as an independent therapist. (Dysphagia = eating, drinking or swallowing difficulties) |
